Lady Bug
This is Lady bug that was sold on opening night of Artopia exhibition on tuesday. Pat Judd & I sold a piece each that night.
The substrate is wire & cement form mold by me & the feet & feelers are cut from a wire candle holder. The tiles are glass byzantii. I loved the reflections they had..like a shimmering bugs wings. the eyes are glass beads set into the gluegrout. The grout was then painted with irredesent glass paint. Yes, a lot of time & thought went into this one.

POP
This is the mosaic piece i entered into Kingston Arts Blitz this year. The theme was POP. Can you see POP & FIZ in the picture? The art was to be completed in 24hrs. Yep I did it! Was a great experience, I'll do it again.
I have more competitions to enter this year too.
Oh yes, this is still for sale. $420.
60 x 40 cms Glass tiles on Ply.
I have now started to prepare more boards to become mosaic art. Yes, finally I have got to prepare the backs first, makes it easier at the end.
I have another seahorse panel on the go & a garden scene which I am collecting more broken china for. This will be a new style for me.
I have found the art class on tuesday nights - Love of Art (at Aspendale) very helpful in training my eyes to see, what is & how to interperate it. I am doing water colour & pencil which is new to me. We all have so much fun painting & viewing each others work. we all have so different styles - it's wonderful!
till next time.......go create!

my wonderful students
I teach mosaics at an aged care facility.
I have 3-4 wonderful people in the class, 2 tuesdays a month for 2 hours.
They look forward to the time we have together to create pieces for the garden or for their own use.
They teach me more than I could ever teach them. They inspire me & challenge me with their requests. I feel blest to be able to share their time.
Today I was grouting a part of one piece. It will have to be done in 3 stages, very interesting, I will post a picture when it is complete.
I often have to help a lot with the cutting & grouting. But they will be happy polishing & cleaning the end product to sell at their fete.
Has anyone else got older students?
